Reflections On Time

As a member of Ashford Visual Artists we presented Reflections on Time at Rye Creative Centre over the Easter bank holiday weekend. Below is my statement for this exhibition:

As a painter I use a restricted palette of black and white and the multiply shades of grey
between. Each Painting is made up of small, pixelated squares in which, with a squirrel brush I
rotate acrylic paint into swirls. It is a time-consuming application, but the result has a textural
vigour up close, but from a distance converges into a recognizable iconic personality.

The work evokes and challenges our perception, through these shades of grey to question the
diversity and reality of who we really are. My current focus is on notable public figures who we
have either lost or have aged while in the public eye and with the passing of time, public
opinion has altered and changed which I believe is a direct link to the theme ‘Reflections on
Time’.
