The Modern Saint Collection 2022
This series represents the women I bump into during my daily life. You may think women are ordinary, but they have saintly qualities within them. You may even see a bit of yourself in them. Identify with them. And even empathize with them. After all being a saint isn’t easy. But nothing worthwhile ever is . . .

What a Picture Collection 2022
Specialises in black and white photography. The portraits have a frank and honest portrayal of the sitter’s inner soul with their outer wear and tear.
I put out a request for people to contact me, those who care for others, put themselves in danger, or support others, like modern day Saints.

This is Me in the Corner Collection 2019 -22
I have always felt that I do not belong. I do not know why. The paintings here are from my life experiences of feeling that I do not fit in. I feel that the faces and beings that I love to create should be celebrated and accepted for their difference. That they are portraying a need, a desire, a want to be accepted, a difference in shape, colour and form, which creates images of saintly figures, like those worshiped by many today and in the past.

Madonna & Elizabeth 2022
My work challenges our perception through shades of grey to the diversity and reality of who we really are.
Having always had an interest in the complex nature of people I have expressed and explored these recurring themes to create a mixture of “human landscapes” and “distorted portraits”, primarily of today’s icons. Celebrates whom we infuse with our expectations, desires and resilience rather than acknowledge that they are also venerable, complex and made up of flesh and bone.

A Collection of Swarms 2022
According to one story St Botolph’s body was secretly taken by night from East Anglia to Romney Marsh to prevent his bones from becoming commercial relics and used by the church to attract wealth from pilgrims.
No single mother can ever match the impossibility of the Virgin Mary and child, rather society marginalises this woman as foolish and dependent on the state. A third of our next generation is now disregarded and vulnerable.
Janet Aldis
Ode to Abstraction 2019
This textural piece of work is handmade combining traditional techniques of rug and tapestry making, using wool and silver thread. Colours used, are those frequently found in stained glass windows in churches representing the rich warmth, comfort and peace experienced within those communal places.

What is it Worth 2016 - 22
An emotive artist and an experienced support worker; I use disguarded materials to demonstrate that with the right care and attention everything has a value and worth.
I like to observe people, noting their moods, interactions and responses alongside the reactions they receive and the level of engagement I obtain from them. I aim to replicate this through a range of found or discarded objects like carpet, tiles, wood or slate with mixed media, mark making and colour.

Iconographic Collection 2020 - 22
For me to be a saint means to be myself. Therefore, the problem of sanctity and salvation is in fact the problem of finding out who I am and of discovering my true self.
Thomas Merton in New Seeds of Contemplation.
